What is Fascial Stretch Therapy?

Fascial Stretch Therapy, or FST, is an innovative system of manual, assisted stretch therapy techniques that includes joint capsule, fascial and muscular stretching to rapidly eliminate pain, improve mobility, restore impaired function, reduce recovery time & optimize athletic performance.

FST is very different than what we think of as traditional stretching or bodywork, in that it is more functional and dynamic. Unlike traditional stretching or bodywork that only attempts work on muscles, FST engages the entire myofascial system by targeting muscles as well as their neighboring joints, ligaments, tendons, and bones.

Benefits of Fascial Stretch Therapy

  • Re-aligns and re-organizes fascia to improve overall mobility.
  • Can increase flexibility by up to 52% in just one session.
  • Pain-free.
  • Rapid, effective pain relief.
  • Reduces stress.
  • Eliminates trigger points.
  • Improves muscle activation & relaxation.
  • Improves flexibility, speed and performance in athletes.
  • Improves functional mobility and posture in the aging population.
  • Improves sleep quality.
  • Relieves joint impingement syndromes.
  • Aides in injury prevention.

who needs Fascial Stretch Therapy?

Everyone!! Anyone can benefit from FST! Whether you are an athlete, a weekend warrior, or a desk job employee this remarkable technique will benefit you in helping avoid injury, gaining a competitive edge, and everyone wanting to improve there overall range of motion. Even chronic pain sufferers, or someone with pain and/or limited mobility due to various medical conditions this can help. Stretching is performance and anti-aging therapy at it's best!

What to expect during your first FST session

During your FST session, Dr. John, will move your body in undulating spiral diagonal patterns known as stretch waves paired with traction to access the joint capsule, the deepest level of fascia. Breathing is synchronized with stretch waves for greater efficiency and an additional therapeutic effect. This pain-free therapy allows your body to relax and receive greater benefits versus traditional bodywork, like deep tissue work or Rolfing, that is often painful and can result in muscular guarding.

Fascial Stretch Therapy is a pain-free, relaxing, easy and convenient form of bodywork. Clients stay fully-clothed and relaxed as the session is performed tailored to your specific needs. There is no use of massage oils or creams. Clients will leave their session feeling renewed, relaxed and mobile.

    Personal Training

    why Personal training?

Being involved in physical fitness since high school I have always enjoyed pushing my body and mind to new limits. From the weight room to Ironman triathlons, to ultrarunning of 50-100 miles having a mentor in training my body was always key to accomplish my goals. As a personal training I look forward to taking the journey to your new goals no matter how small or large they may be, together we will accomplish them!

Utilizing a variety training techniques, such as, Functional Training, TRX/RIP Training, High Intensity Interval Training which incorporates plyometrics, weight training and body weight exercises. Functional strength training involves performing work against resistance in such a manner that the improvements in strength directly enhance the performance of movements so that an individual's activities of daily living are easier to perform.

What are the benefits of Functional Training?

Simply stated, the primary goal of Functional Training is to transfer the improvements in strength achieved in one movement to enhance the performance of another movement.
For strength exercises to effectively transfer to other movements, several components of the training movement needs to be similar to the actual performance movement.

      Why Get Chiropractic Adjustments?

Many things can lead to a vertebral subluxation. Some of the more common causes I’ve found are:

      • A vertebra going out of place (“misalignment”) because of a slip or fall (i.e., “macrotrauma”).
      • The entire spine misaligning globally due to poor posture.
      • Joint swelling caused by damage done to the intervertebral joint.
      • An inflammatory response caused by a poor diet, lack of pure water or psychological stress.
      • Osteoporosis or degenerative changes of the spine or intervertebral discs.
      • Trigger points and tight back muscles that pull the vertebrae out of place.

There is a reason why athletes both today and in the past, like Michael Phelps, Jerry Rice and Joe Montana, are under regular chiropractic care. In fact, over 50 percent of NFL teams have a chiropractor on staff.

Because it is so effective at pain-based and pathological conditions, one of the most overlooked aspects of chiropractic care is that it enhances personal and athletic performance. Studies have shown that it:

      • Reduces inflammatory cytokines
      • Boosts your immune system
      • Enhances pulmonary function
      • Decreases mental and oxidative stress
      • Relieves muscle tension
      • And can naturally increase your energy level

Studies have even proved, objectively and subjectively, that chiropractic patients experience “overall increased bodily function,” which includes bowl regularity and mental clarity.

Basically, because it helps place your body in the position where it can heal itself, chiropractic adjustments can free your immune system up to focus on keeping you healthy, which enhances your ability to think, move and perform.
